The irony here is that while these policies call for teacher education programs and institutions to make decisions based on evidence, the policies themselves are not evidence-based. These are some of the questions for which every teacher wants to find a solution. Students come to school with their own ideas, some correct and some not, about almost every topic they are likely to encounter. However, I deleted this as grade level is arbitrary. Nevertheless, advanced high school and college mathematics contains even more "pictorial" symbols, which the vi student needs to assimilate, right along with their sighted peers if they are to succeed.
